Where many boat builders are satisfied with using plywood, we go a step further and use Nidacore as the primary material for the sloes and bulkheads. Nidacore, a high-tech composite, is lighter and stronger. It may be more expensive, but it allows us to take advantage of the reduction in weight to pass along fuel savings to you. Less weight requires less engine horsepower. Also, because the size of the engine is reduced, it changes hull design parameters, thereby improving speed and performance. What's more, Nidacore has excellent sound absorption properties which allows them to run very quietly. Efficiency is the key design parameter in a McKinna hull.
