Impressive
Sales Growth in
International
Markets
At a time when many of its competitors
are struggling to meet their sales goals,
KMI Sea-Lift, a leading manufacturer of
diesel-powered hydraulic trailers tailored
to the marine repair and storage industry,
is seeing its business grow, especially in
international markets.
The company recently announced new
partnerships worldwide, including one
with Port Dubrovka in the Russian Federation.
Located on the Neva River near St.
Petersburg, Port Dubrovka has the first
Sea-Lift operating in Eastern Europe, according
to Wade Koning, KMI Sea-Lift
sales manager.
“Our company is new,” said Alexander
Zamiralov, chairman of Port Dubrovka.
“We’re putting up a new marina and storage
facility outside St. Petersburg, and
we had no equipment.”
Zamiralov wanted a quality lift requiring
a minimal upfront investment. After surveying
the market worldwide, he decided
on the KMI Sea-Lift Model 45.
“It offers easy, fast operation, effective
use of storage space, can be operated by
a single user and is easy to use,” he said.
“It also reduces accident risks, since there
are no straps that can break, and requires
minimal maintenance, due to Sea-Lift’s
use of high quality standard components.”
After just a few months of use, Zamiralov
reported, “We are very happy with
our choice. Our KMI Sea-Lift 45 has fully
met our expectations.”
Sea-Lift goes global
Elsewhere, KMI Sea-Lift has just delivered
a Model 45-Adjustable to Lions
Gate Marina, located in Vancouver,
Canada. Production also is underway
of several Model 45-Adjustable Sea-
Lifts destined for Southeast Asia and
Australia.
Sea-Lifts will be delivered in January to
Marina Pangkor in Perak, Malaysia, and
Gold Coast Marine Centre on Australia’s
renowned Gold Coast.
Yet another deal for delivery of a redesigned
Model 30-Adjustable Sea-Lift is
in the works for Redlands City Marina in
Thornlands, near Brisbane Australia.
One of KMI Sea-Lift’s most exciting annoucements
concerns a partnership with
the St. Maarten Shipyard in the Netherlands
Antilles to build a 75-Ton Sea-Lift
for delivery in spring/summer 2010.
“We’re extremely excited to announce
this partnership to produce what will be
the world’s largest-capacity Sea-Lift,” said
Koning. “It will be capable of safely handling
vessels displacing up to 150,000
pounds and up to 85 feet in length.”
The St. Maarten Shipyard currently uses
90- and 110-ton cranes. However, its operators
also plan to add a 120-ton lift capable
of hauling boats more than 100 feet
long. “Their goal is to make this a full-service
shipyard and extend the yachting
season in St. Maarten for boats that require
yard work,” Koning said.
Less than a minute
A division of Krause Manufacturing,
Inc., KMI Sea-Lift produces a completeline
of lifts that typically can haul-out large
boats in under 60 seconds. A patented
center hinge enables the Sea-Lift to pick
up craft in lower tides and shallower waters
while holding the boat almost level
on the ramp. Adjustable air bunks support
the length of the hull, eliminating
many problems that can occur with sling
lifts and cranes, such as chine damage,
engine alignment, damage to under-hull
fittings and strap marks. Once underway,
the Sea-Lift travels at 5 mph (8
kph) to its destination.
