Due to theinherent restrictions of space in^^l both conventional and nuclearsubmarinesandl theharsh environmental conditionsinwhichHB they operate, theNTD offersarange of JBflH displays for both internal and externaluse.HBl
Within the Control Room theNTD workstation™ is able to provide aWECDIS/ECDIS-N systemH capable ofsurfaceand divednavigationBMBB combined with theuseof radarandotherHBBi
sensors, when employed. NTDrange ofdisplaysl provides de-mountable, ruggedisedand waterproof systems for use on open bridges.M The modular nature of the NTDthenallowsthese lunitstobeused inthe control room, withother iNTDworkstations once the submarinedives.
|The navigationofasubmarineoncesubmerged swell understood by Kelvin Hughes.TheNTD lincludesfull (W)ECDISfunctionality allowing a lusertoplan and carry out dived submarine! navigationtechniques including 'Pool of Errors' (PoE)generation andreduction, bottom contourfixing and plotting ofallocated water-space, movinghavens areas and the creation lofAdditional Military Layers (AML).
[The PortableAuxiliary Display (PAD) is a light [weight, waterproof, touchsensitive display that makes up part of the NTD range for submarines and use on external bridges. Fully daylight and night time compatible, it adds flexibility to the NTD system, allowing the use of internal systems on the bridge, when surfaced. When the Submarine dives the PAD is then used internally, to provide an additional command, blind pilotage, navigation or tactical picture display depending on the submarine's role. The flexible nature of the NTD range gives combat system designers and operational personnel alike, freedom to configure the system given the ever changing role, threat and manning of the vessel.
■The exceptional ability of the Navigation and ■TacticalDisplay (NTD) to fuse data fromall ■sensors, provides theuser with the [Recognised Maritime Picture in the [Operations/Control Room (CIC), on the bridge [when surfacedortootherworkstation^^B throughout the boat. Multiple sensor sources, data link systems, sonar, radar, navigation,B ■electronic warfare andoptronic sensors, are lallfused intoaclearand conciseformat instantly recognisable inthemodernwarfare ■environment. By combiningboth traditional land new technology sensors with electronic chart, mapping and reconnaissancedata, thel tactical andnavigational awareness of the ■user is raised to a newlevel -especiallyHBV iwhenoperating within the MttoralJBVHBHl environment.|^JBHHHHHHHHHHHH
