VDR MantaDigital™ NDR2002 Voyage Data Recorder Now includes Type Approved integrated ECS functionality. The Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital™ NDR-2002 is a type approved Voyage Data Recorder which exceeds the requirements of IMO Performance Standard A.861(20) for Shipborne Voyage Data Recorders (VDR) and the latest data download specification SN 246. The MantaDigital™ Voyage Data Recorder is now available with integrated Electronic Chart System (ECS) functionality that meets the requirements for a Backup ECDIS. The VDR collects data from the sensors on board the vessel stores it in an externally mounted Crash Survivable Module (CSM). The CSM is a tamper-proof unit designed to withstand the extreme shock, impact, pressure and heat, which could be associated with a maritime incident. The CSM may be retrieved from the vessel and the stored data replayed by the authorities for investigative purposes.
