However, it is well documented that overexposure to UV radiation is responsible for two major public health problems: skin cancer and cataracts. The UV Index is a numerical measurement of the level of UV radiation and an important value to be monitor and understand. Limiting exposure to the sun during periods of high UV is essential for your health. Precise Measurement: The UV index listed in weather reports is actually a projected index in a major city. The actual UV index during the day can range widely depending on cloud cover and time of day, as the UV levels are highest when the sun is directly overhead. It is important to limit your exposure to the sun during these times of high UV levels. The Seawatch by JDC allows you to precisely measure the current UV index in your location. Simple to Use: A device that is complicated to use is practically useless. The Seawatch is very simple to operate. A press of a button will start the measurement of the UV index. A reading is taken immediately and every two seconds for the rst ve minutes. If left in UV mode, it will record the UV index every ten seconds. The display will show at a glance the levels, both numerically and on a colored bar chart. Alarms can also be set for high levels. Built-in Sensor: The Seawatch is a self-contained device with the precision UV sensor built into the face of the watch. For most accurate measurements direct the UV sensor toward the sun for several seconds. Recent advances in UV monitoring technology has produced a sensor within +/- 1 UVI of professional instruments, when used properly. The portability allows constant use keeping people safe from the sun’s damaging UV radiation. More Than UV Index: The Seawatch is more than a UV measuring device. It includes all the features you would expect from a sports watch. It features a daily alarm, chronograph, countdown timer, and of course the time of day and date. It also has an EL backlight and is weatherproof (can be submerged six feet). The battery is included and installed; the long-life Lithium battery will last for thousands of measurements.
