Safety: The Porosimeter is a necessary product for anyone who relies on the sink rate of a parachute or paraglider. Visual inspection of the fabric is not enough to determine the integrity of the parachute; occasional porosity measurement is a necessity. It has been proven that even a small increase in sink rate (higher porosity) signi cantly increases the risk of injury of every type. Regular measurement of the porosity increases safety. Simple to Use: JDC’s Porosimeter was designed with ease of use in mind. The fabric or cloth is placed over the opening on the top, and secured with a strong magnetic disk. The bellows is weighted, and held in place until measurement by a locking lever. When the lever is released, the weight draws air through the cloth into the bellows, a total of 0.25 liters. The porosimeter automatically times the expansion of the bellows. Air-tight Seal: The strong magnetic disk is removed from the top, cloth spread across the opening, and replaced on top. This produces an air-tight seal so all air is passed through the cloth. Different parachutes and paraglider fabrics have different porosity levels by design. A parachute will lose porosity over time and use, dependant on many factors. Occasional testing will alert the user to a decrease in porosity. Elegant Design: The display plugs into the porosimeter unit via an “RCA” style plug. The included cable is 1.5 meters, but can be replaced by a longer cable if necessary. The display is in plain sight during the measurement of the material. All electronics are in the display which is powered by a Lithium battery designed to last for 30,000 hours. The Porosimeter base has no electrical componants other than an internal reed switch. Reliable and Econimical: Safety is very important in any air sport, and monitoring the wear on the parachute is imperitive. However it is also necessary to have an economical instrument to ensure frequent use. Complicated and expensive instruments deter people from regularly testing their fabric. JDC’s Porosimeter is economical and easy to use for anyone. The Porosimeter’s porosity output can be converted to any unit necessary. Rugged Storing Case: The high-impact plastic case is ideal for storing and transporting the Porosimeter. The unit itself is weather resistant, and manufactured entirely in Switzerland. We offer a full 2-year warranty on the Porosimeter. Since the design is simple there is almost zero loss of accuracy throughout many years of use. The rubber bellows is strong, and tears or rips are very uncommon but can be repaired easily by us. 10 >
