INTERZINC 22HS DATA SHEET - 1

Inorganic Zinc Silicate INTENDED USES A two pack inorganic zinc-rich silicate based primer providing good abrasion resistance and outstanding corrosion protection for correctly prepared steel surfaces. Contains 82% zinc in the dry film for long term corrosion A primer for a wide range of above water organic coating schemes to greatly enhance corrosion resistance. For use at Newbuilding or Maintenance & Repair. Part B (Curing Agent) Volume Solids Typical Film Thickness Theoretical Coverage Flash Point Induction Period 1 weight(s) Part A to 2.86 weight(s) Part B 417 ft2/US Gal at 3 mils dft, allow appropriate loss factors. * Coverage rates are calculated based upon volume solids test (ISO 3233:1998) determinations. Conduct usage rate observation for best determination of actual coverage. Airless Spray, Conventional Spray Part A 67°F; Part B Non-infamable; Mixed 70°F (Setaflash) (ASTM D-3278) Touch Dry [ASTM D1640 7.5.1] 30 mins Overcoating Data - see limitations Substrate Temperature Note Overcoating is dependent upon ambient conditions. The figures above have been determined at the quoted temperature REGULATORY DATA 340 g/lt (2.83 lbs/US gal) as supplied (EPA Method 24) Note: VOC values are typical and are provided for guidance purposes only. These may be subject to variation depending on factors such as differences in color and normal manufacturing tolerances. Inorganic Zinc Silicate SYSTEMS AND Consult your International Paint representative for the system best suited for the surfaces to be protected. SURFACE Paint only clean, dry surfaces. Remove all grease, oil, soluble contaminants and other foreign matter by "solvent Dependent on yard procedures. Consult International Paint. For optimum performance "Near White Blast Cleaning" (SSPC-SP10) is recommended. Surface profile should be between 2 mils and 2.5 mils. Shop Primed Surfaces: Consult your International Paint representative for specific recommendations. Prior to overcoating, Interzinc 22...

Inorganic Zinc Silicate Airless Spray Conventional Spray Apply by conventional spray or airless spray. When spraying, pressure (material) tank must be located above or on the same level as work, material hoses should be extended full length - avoid loops, sags and coils. Allow for losses due to surface irregularities and application methods. Strain material through a minimum 60 mesh screen before application. Apply 3.8 mils wet which will yield 3.0 mils dry film thickness. Consult the following equipment recommendations or utilize suitable equal. Note: Do not apply in excess of 5.0 mils dry...

Inorganic Zinc Silicate Apply in good weather when air and surface temperatures are above 41 °F. Surface temperatures must be at least 5° F above dew point. For optimum application properties, bring material to 70-81 °F prior to mixing and application. Unmixed material (in closed containers) should be maintained in protected storage between 40 and 95°F. Care should be taken at temperatures close to freezing that surfaces are free from ice. At relative humidities below 50%, curing will be severely retarded and humidity may need to be increased by use of steam or water spraying. For high...
