Text version of the page
The Hampton Hybrid hull was extensively tank-tested From the very beginning, Hampton Yachts wanted the Endurance series to represent a new standard for safety, comfort and efficiency in a long-range cruising yacht. The Hampton Hybrid Hull was the start of the solution, its roots going all the way back to Apollonio’s early work on split-chine hulls in 1977. The Endurance. A model of performance and design. For the Endurance Series, Apollonio has incorporated the hybrid hull with his most recent developments, where the lower chine actually disappears into the forward third of the hull. A process that is often referred to as a combination of art and science. After extensive analysis with computer modelling and scale model tank testing, Apollonio’s design exceeded all expectations. The result embodies a fully-integrated set of vital features that function together synergistically, ensuring a solid, confidence-inspiring feel and superior efficiency at extended range cruising. Endurance. Built to master the seas. Key design highlights • Significantly low vertical acceleration of 0.34 to 0.47g’s at 8 to 20 knots in sea state 4, at 60 ft boat length. The deck stayed dry in all cases. • Abundant initial stability, illustrated by high GMt values of approx. 3.7 to 4.4 ft fully loaded. • The hull overcomes the limitation of “hull speed” at speed/length ratio, SLR, 1.34. Its speed of 12-18 knots represents SLR = 1.57-2.35. • Range for 650LRC at 6.6 knots is ~3,600 nm with 10% fuel reserve. • Range for 650LRC at 8 knots is ~ 2,000 nm with 10% fuel reserve.
