Fabrics for your fender covers
For your new fender covers we only use the world's best raw material that is available on the textile market for technical appliances and for outdoor use. The fibres have the highest colour and UV resistance possible for textiles. Manufacturers of spray hoods, sun awnings and convertible roofs for exclusive cars are using these fibres.
Because of direct sales - without a middle man, directly from the manufacturer to you - we can afford to use these extremely expensive fibres for you and still deliver at an affordable price. Your new fender covers will not fade for years to come! There is no match in quality with any other fender covers on the market.
We get this basic fibre spun and twisted to special soft staple fibre yarn (minimum weight per colour is 3,000 kg - this is the reason for only offering 5 basic colours). We process these yarns in our factory with additional elastic and coloured yarns to achieve different quality fabrics. All these fabrics are:
elastic, none fading, UV resistant, rot proof Quality: Standard
This elastic quality is particularly designed for lighter boats.
Should your boat be moored in between other boats and
Europe's biggest sailing magazine
your fender is only exposed to normal rubbing, than this is the right choice for your fender cover.
Quality: Super
In this case we use a reinforced twisted yarn quality. As a result the elastic fabric is more stable and has a higher rubbing resistance and longer life cycle. This is also the right choice for round fenders because they are faced with localised rubbing. We recommend this elastic quality because it is good value for money.
The magazine Yacht undertook a long-term trial for fender covers comparing fender-design's covers with other available covers on the market.

UV-resistant Sock
FENDER COVERS The result of a long-term study offender covers (see upper row of photos): on the right a common fender sock before the trial at the beginning of 2003, 3 years old, in the middle a new sock of the same quality and on the left a new high-quality cover (with boatname) by Fender-Design (see. also YACHT 8/03, p.79). Photo below: The result after two years of use and after a number of wash cycles. The fenders had been constantly hanging over the side or in the fender baskets. The standard sock has suffered almost equal amounts of fading as its two year older equal, whereas the colour intensity of the posh knit sock had barely changed. Quality: Towelling
Primarily in Southern countries you will see towelling fender covers. These also offer you good noise muffling. Disadvantage: Sand and dirt can get stuck in the fabric and possibly rub on the hull/gel coat. With this quality we only offer black or white for the boat lettering.
Quality: Velvet
As opposed to towelling Velvet has open polar fibres where sand cannot settle. Similar to animal coats the velvet like surface is highly dirt-resistant. Because of the velvet surface the underside is protected and makes this fabric very resistant to wear and tear. You can choose to have the name of your boat produced in black or white. The jacquard knitting lets the surface look less tight than with plain velvet. Especially for varnished and sensitive precious hulls we recommend this fabric.
Jacquard
All fabrics can be machine washed at 40°. The fabrics are of synthetic material and dry quickly in the air. Do not dry in a dryer.
Our high quality fibre yarns are spun to a soft quality in order to protect and to beautify the hull. For us, but surely for you as well, this is very important. When using fender covers against rough quay walls it is advisable to remove the covers to avoid coarsening and tearing. By loosening the ties and because of the elastic materials this can be done very quickly.
Certainly it is possible to obtain all fender covers in a plain version (without writing)!
