| Danfoss Semco was one of the pioneers of local protection, and is today the market leader in high pressure systems for local protection. The current MK III is a very efficient fire protection system with a proven record. The system complies with the requirements of IMO 913, and protects hazardous areas as described in the standard: i.e., auxiliary engines, main engines, boiler fronts, oil separators, etc. The MK III is a further development of earlier systems, all of which have proven themselves efficient and reliable. Approved by all major classification societies and authorities, the unique fire fighting capabilities of the high pressure system are widely recognised. Operating at a minimum pressure of 80 bar at the nozzle head, the system uses remarkably little water to produce a fine mist of very small droplets. This mist provides exceptional ire ighting capabilities together with high cooling rates, achieved when the water droplets vaporise. The low water density and very fine droplets have been documented to be harmless to electrical installations, provided that protection exceeds IP 22, and also prevent shock cooling of cast parts. |
