International news Burger for Sail S&S 150 Motorsailer The ability to meet diverse project guidelines has put Burger at the top of its game and this year will see many of its efforts brought to fruition at its Wisconsin yard. The company recently announced winning the highest score for an award for interior woodwork aboard one of its recent launches, Ingot, from Custom Woodworking Business Magazine. In a design/build collaboration with Sparkman & Stephens, Burger will create a brand new breed of motorsailers at 90, 125 and 150 feet. Taking the concept full circle, as Burger built the first ever S&S aluminum yawl in 1957, the new yacht celebrates a return to classic styling, combined with the ability for modern performance. Coming at the perfect time when more yachtsmen are seeking an environmentally friendly approach to hitting the water, the new line of motorsailers will be extremely fuel efficient; building will start with the 150-footer. Burger has also agreed to build the first in the Vision Line by Ward Setzer – the VL-58, and to work on new and innovative designs with the Setzer group for the future. Although construction has not yet begun, this build couldn’t be more different than the S&S motorsailer and its sporty lines completely juxtapose the classic-yacht styling of Burgers past. The new yacht will be loaded with modern amenities such as an onboard theater, helideck, a gym and two galleys. Accommodations will include five guest cabins with oversized portlights and an owner’s stateroom with its own balcony, recessed in the hull’s side. Charter favorites will include a large transom garage to hold tenders and toys, leaving a clean area for entertaining aft. Twelve crew will be accommodated in six cabins forward, with an engineer’s room aft for convenience. Interior indulgences will include light woods and textured fabrics creating a modern, clean ambiance. Regarding this busy time at the company, Ron Cleveringa, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Burger says, “The award recognizes the talented craftspeople who build each new Burger, while the designs are intended to show the marketplace some of the new and innovative ideas we are developing as part of our vision of the future of custom yacht building.” Burger Boat Company Tel: (920) 684-1600 Email: [email protected] www.burgerboat.com VL -58 SPECS 22 LOA: 148ft / Beam: 36ft 3in Draft: 8ft 10in / / Engines: 22 x CAT 3516 / Expected speed (max/cruise)knots / Naval architecture/design: Navirex/A-Lab Marine 186ft 26ft / / Draft: 5ft Engines: x CAT C32 Acert / Expected speed: 40/30 : 17/15 knots / Naval architecture/design: Ward Setzer Design
