30 THE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER FOR BOATING & LIVING IN THE BALEARICS Q52 - A DUTCH BEAUTY \ Last year just before the Monaco Yacht Show we carried a brief preview of the Brandaris Q52 motor yacht, with an artists impression graphie which had been issued with a press release by her Dutch designers Vrijpack. Then, whilst attending the Monaco show we got a phone call from Arthur Oskamp of Brandaris Yachts also based in the Netherlands, who are building and marketing the yacht. Arthur said he had been told about our article, and guess what? He was conducting sea trials with a brand new Q52 at the show, and would we like to come out for a spin? A few minutes later after dashing out to the dock, we stepped aboard to be welcomed by Arthur and his colleague Henk van Egmond, and were soon streaking across the water in the late afternoon sunshine. THE "WOW" FACTOR signais and the pods to hold the Q52 in position wherever you want to hove to, irrespective of wind and tide. As for down below, the interior spaces are a modernists dream with clean, crisp, LED lit finishes which definitely appealed to the female crew on our impromptu sea trial! To say that the Q52 is a head turner is no exaggeration, and she looked very at home in terms of style, even among the impressive fleet of superyachts that were anchored in numbers off Monaco that day. The other thing that was highly noticeable was the way Arthur edged her effortlessly up to a crowded dock, and steadily held the swim platform inches away for us to jump on, using the joystick control which cornes with the twin Zeus® Pod Drive System. Indeed we soon witnessed at the dock, or out in the open seas, that sideways tracking and turning on the spot is never a problem. Précise one-hand command and manouverability are clearly unsurpassed. And the pair of 600 hp Cummins diesels soon had her up on the plane and pushing 40 knots, with high speed turns being executed smoothly and easily. Arthur also proudly demonstrated the impressive "sky hook" function, where the GPS /Plotter works with satellite Q52 Vital Statistics: LOA: 16m/ 52.50ft BOA: 4.50m / 14.80ft Draught: 0.65m / 2.10ft, incl. pod 1.0m/ 3.30ft Fuel: 1500L - Water: 500L Hull type : GRP - Planing Engine: 2x Cummins ZEUS 3800 QSC600HP Max. speed: 40 knots Offshore Classification: B More détails - Tel: +32 (0) 533 01050 Email: info(à>wije.nl ivivw.brandaris.nl
